Empower your LinkedIN Profile

Proving competences and skills is the key to get visible and to get find out by potential prospects and recruiters. The new LinkedIN profile added important features to enrich profiles with contents such as images, video, audio, presentations and documents. The greatest opportunity is to create a documented “file” and a track of records of activities. Contents can be added within “Summary” section and each experience. There are no official rules in deciding where to upload them but, as general suggestion, we can say that in the summary you can upload contents related to the career, such as certifications, video presentation, show cases, ecc; in experience you should upload specific project related to your job. How to add contents STEP 1: Enter the Editing mode of profile from Menu > Profile > Edit Profile STEP 2: In the summary or experiences section, near the title, search for the icon of a rectangle with a “+” symbol STEP 3: A form will be showned asking to insert the direct URL to the content you want to link. How to find out the correct URL to insert depends on the service you are using. In Youtube is the link of a video that showned as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=codeXyz where code XYZ is an alphanumeric unique code for that video. In slideshare the url appears similar to http://www.slideshare.net/username/title-of-presentation. Generally, you need to open the specific content, copy the URL from the address bar of your browser and paste it on the required field. STEP 4 Edit the Title and the Description. Once you added the url, Linkedin asks to indicate the Title of the content and a description. This is an important step in order to give information to profile’s visitors and to reached within the search. Thats all, now the specified content is linked to your profile section. You can decide to move it from one experience to another without the need to upload it again. To to like that, you have to enter the edit mode of the specific content you want to move (just clicking on the pen simbol) and select from the drop down menu (“Move this media to”) the section you want to upload to. Are you using this feature to enrich your profile? Which kind of content you usually link?

Linkedin Answer to be taken down

Starting from 31st January LinkedIN Answer will be dismissed. LinkedIN announced via email few days ago.I think LinkedIN is having problem in defining social networking model. They are exploring ways to keep people more on the network, but with a no real scenario and model in mind. The only working usage seems to be the recruiting tool, less the business networking. Also it seems that Facebook could catch up Linkedin as professional tool, because it permits a more personal interaction. According to you, which are the weaknesses of LinkedIN?

HR loves LinkedIN

LinkedIN is confirmed as the favourite social network for HRs. According to the third quarter earnings’ report realeased by Linkedin last thursday, Talent Solutions grew up of 95% comparing to 3rd quarter 2011, rappresenting the 51% of company’s revenues. Furthermore, LinkedIN seems to have found a working freemium business model. Indeed, also the Premium Subscriptions increased by a 94% and now they represents the 20% of total revenues. Last but not the least, Marketing Solutions increased by a 60% with a contribution to global revenues of 29%. The revenues in HR solutions confirm trends showed by surveys highlighting LinkedIN as preferred channel in recruiting. Talent Solutions include tools for managing job hiring and recruiting management and actually it seems to be the most complete solution in human resources management. Talent solutions offer the possibility to manage the entire hiring process integrating the job advertisment, scouting, researching for passive candidates and collaboration within the HR department to keep track of activities. The Talent Pipeline, indeed, gives to the manager  a dashboard to manage activities and team, to assign to each recruiter the tasks they have to complete and to monitor the process. I strongly recommend to take a look at the Talent solution product site where you can fınd a lot of useful informations such as trends, insights, how-to, tutorials related to the HR and recruiting topics. Are you using Talent Solutions for your company? Would you recommend the product to your friends and partners? Let me know, I’d like to build a user generated evaluation from your experience.

[GUIDA A LINKEDIN] Primo contatto
